In our PSHE lessons at Padiham Green, we learn about ourselves and others, build positive relationships and make safe and healthy choices.
At Padiham Green, we want children to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives, build positive relationships and play an active role in their community and the wider world.
Our PSHE curriculum is supported by Coram Life Education's SCARF programme and incorporates the statutory requirements for Relationships Education and Health Education. Learning is carefully planned and adapted to meet the needs of our children and is taught in an age-appropriate and sensitive way.
As children move through school, they learn about relationships, health and wellbeing, keeping safe, rights and responsibilities and the wider world. Children are encouraged to recognise and understand their emotions, develop positive relationships, make informed choices and know when and how to seek help.
PSHE is an important part of our wider approach to personal development at Padiham Green. Learning within PSHE is complemented by our Christian vision and values, Collective Worship and learning across subjects including science, computing and RE.
Through discussion, reflection and carefully chosen activities, children are given opportunities to explore ideas, listen to different viewpoints, ask questions and develop the confidence to make safe and responsible choices.
Ultimately, we want our children to leave Padiham Green as confident, respectful and responsible young people who understand themselves and others and have the knowledge and skills they need for the next stage of their lives.
Relationships and Sex Education
Relationships Education and Health Education are statutory and form part of our curriculum. Parents do not have the right to withdraw their child from Relationships Education, Health Education or content taught as part of the National Curriculum for Science. Where we teach sex education beyond the statutory science curriculum, parents have the right to request that their child is withdrawn from some or all of these lessons. Parents who would like further information or wish to discuss withdrawal should contact the Headteacher.
