Our Curriculum at Padiham Green
At Padiham Green, our curriculum is designed specifically for our children and our community. It is ambitious for every pupil and provides the strong foundations, knowledge, skills and experiences children need to succeed at Padiham Green and beyond.
Our curriculum is rooted in the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage framework and the National Curriculum and is carefully sequenced so that learning builds progressively over time. We identify the important knowledge and skills children need in each subject and provide regular opportunities to revisit, practise and apply their learning so that children know more, remember more and can do more.
We believe that strong foundations matter. From the earliest stages, we prioritise the fundamental knowledge and skills children need in communication and language, reading, writing and mathematics, alongside their personal, social and physical development. These foundations enable children to access and succeed across our wider curriculum.
We want our children to develop as confident readers, writers and mathematicians, while also learning to think and work as scientists, historians, geographers, artists, designers, musicians and linguists, developing an understanding of what makes each subject unique.
Our curriculum helps children understand their own locality, heritage and community while gradually broadening their knowledge and understanding of Britain and the wider world.
We are committed to ensuring that our curriculum is accessible and ambitious for all children. Teaching is adapted carefully so that pupils with different starting points and needs can access the same rich curriculum, while receiving the support and challenge they need to succeed.
