Geography
“Geography explains the past, illumintes the present and prepares us for the future. What could be more important than that?”

Geography Curriculum at Padiham Green
At Padiham Green we aim to develop, through Geography, a mutual respect for other communities and cultures.
We believe that developing a thirst for learning in Geography will equip the children with the geographical knowledge and skills that will prepare them for their next stage of learning and for life as an adult in the wider world. We seek to inspire in children a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people; encourage them to ask and discover answers to their own questions through exploration and research and to promote the children’s interest and understanding of diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
Our curriculum at Padiham Green has our locality at the heart of it, with all classes undertaking field work exploring our local environment. This enables the children to know their place in the world and use this as a grounding point for all other geographical areas and concepts. Our curriculum is designed to develop knowledge and skills that are progressive, as well as transferable, throughout their time at Padiham Green, further education and beyond.
